Sheryl Lee Ralph (born December 30, 1956) is an actress, singer, author, and activist from the United States. She made her professional debut in 1977 comedy A Piece of the Action before gaining her breakout role as Deena Jones in the Broadway musical Dreamgirls & won an award for it.
Ralph has appeared in a lot of films over her career. She was awarded the Independent Spirit Award in the Female category in 1991 for her performance in the drama film To Sleep with Anger.
