Shonda Rhimes Bio
Writer, showrunner, producer and director Shonda Rhimes, born 13th January, 1970 in Chicago, USA, is known for creating some of the most popular shows in television. Rhimes studied English literature and creative writing at Dartmouth College, participated in the writing for screen and television program at the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts, and earned a writing scholarship. Shonda went on to write the hit movie Crossroads, which starred Britney Spears and Zoe Saldana, and is also responsible for Princess Diaries 2. Rhimes made her own production company ShondaLand, under which she created, produced and wrote the hit Grey’s Anatomy, which has won awards over its long running stint. She also created the spin-off Private Practice. Already having two hit shows under her belt, Rhimes launched hit show after hit show including Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder. Her shows and the actors on the shows have garnered a long list of awards, Rhimes herself picked up several NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Writing in a Dramatic Series for Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice.
