21-year-old rapper Shy Glizzy also known as Jefe was born and raised in Washington, DC where, as a teenager, he was sent to jail on a robbery charge. After being released, Shy Glizzy sought something better to do with his life and became serious about rapping. He first gained notoriety when he released the song “Disrespect the Tech”, from his mix tape Street’s Hottest Youngin’. He released the mix tape Law 2 in 2012 to mixed reviews from critics.
Despite the recent success of other DC based rappers such as Fat Trel and Wale, Shy Glizzy views himself as an underdog that is not receiving proper attention from the media; specifically rap blogs who he says have avoided his music. He released his most recent mixtape, Young Jefe in March of 2014 and the album contains shout-outs from rappers such as Yo Gotti and Birdman, yet he is not currently signed to a record label.
