Silvio Rodriguez is a Cuban folk singer who was born on November 29th 1946 in San Antonio de los Banos, La Habana, Cuba. He was born and raised in Cuba by his parents Victor Dagoberto Rodriguez Ortega and Argelia Dominguez Leon.
Silvio is famous as one of the best folk singers in Cuba and also as the leader of the nueva trova movement. He is also a member of the well known Grupo de Experimentación Sonora del ICAIC and is often referred to as the Cuban John Lennon. He appeared in Che Guevara’s 1973 album Che Guevara speaks, in Vicente Feliu’s 1979 album Creeme and also in Luis Eduardo Aute’s 1983 album Entre amigos (live).
