Simon Hughes is a British former professional Cricketer, writer and journalist who was born on December 20th 1959 in England, United Kingdom. He was born and raised in the UK. His father is the well known actor Peter Hughes and his brother the historian Bettany Hughes.
Simon played for Middlesex for 12 seasons from 1980 and later retired in 1993 to focus on a writing career. He wrote A Lot of Hard Yakka which won the William Hill Sports Book of the Year in 1997. He is well known for his work on Cricket on Five (2006), Today at the Test (2000) and The Premier Show (2016).
