Skip Marley is a rising talent in the reggae world, with a long shadow to grow into as the grandson of reggae legend Bob Marley. He is self-taught on piano, drums, guitar, and bass, and signed to the family Tuff Gong label at first, and later Island Records, releasing his debut single “Cry On Me.” His style mixes elements of hip-hop, soul, and R&B into his reggae, for a unique style evolving out of his base genre.
Skip Marley’s greatest success is a featured artist spot with pop singer Katy Perry, on “Chained to the Rhythm” (2017), a single which has sold multi-platinum internationally and charted top ten worldwide. The duo performed the song at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards. Skip Marley’s solo charting hits are 2017‘s “Lions” (#2 Billboard US Reggae) and “Calm Down” (#11 Billboard US Reggae).
