Hip-hop artist Snootie Wild was born LePreston Porter on April 23, 1985, in North Memphis, Tennessee. He had a rocky start to his career after his involvement in crime at a young age got him in prison for four years. While incarcerated, however, he was able to hone his rapping skills that he would later employ in his career. In the summer of 2013, he self-released the single “Yayo”, which caught the ear of rapper Yo Gotti, also from Memphis. Both Yo Gotti and rapper T.I. remixed the song, causing it to erupt in popularity. The Yo Gotti version, however, charted at #50 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.
Snootie Wild was later signed to Yo Gotti’s Collective Music Group in late 2013, and shortly after, he announced that he had signed a record contract with Epic. In the Spring of 2014, Snootie Wild released a compilation entitled Chapter One, featuring tracks with Fabolous, French Montana, K Camp, and Jadakiss, to name a few.
