Marie-Sophie Nélisse is a Canadian actress born on March 27, 2000 in Windsor, Ontario. She started acting in commercials when she was seven, and achieved her movie debut at the age of 10 playing Alice L’Écuyer in the French-Canadian movie “Monsieur Lazhar” (2011), in which her stunning performance made her won both “Genie” and “Jutra” award for “Best Supporting Actress” in 2012, and a nomination for the “Young Artist Award” in 2013. She kept acting and later on she was asked to audition for the lead role as Liesel Meminger in the film “The book thief” (2013), based on Markus Zusak nouvel, and she obtained the part. By portraying Liesel she won an “Spotlight Award”, an “NFCS Award” for “Best Youth Performance”, an “PFCS Award” for “Best performance by a Youth in a Lead”, a “Satellite Award” for “breakthrough performance” and a “Young Artist Award”, and was also nominee for a “Saturn Award”, a “Critics Choice Award” and an “OFTA Film Award”. Sophie took part in numerous movies after that, such as “The Great Gilly Hopkins” (2015),playing Gilly, and the lead in the sequel thriller “47 Meters Down: Uncaged” (2019).
