Sophie Skelton is an English actress who was born on March 7, 1994 in Woodford, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom. Sophie was the daughter of children's toy inventors and she began dancing at the early age of three. She learned ballet at the Royal Academy before moving into musical theater and stage productions.
She debuted as Becca Smith in the British crime drama DCI Banks in 2012. In 2013, she guest-starred as Esme Vasquez-Jones in The Dumping Ground, one of CBBC's award winning children's dramas. In the same year, she also appeared in Waterloo Road and Doctors. Her first film was 2018’s The War I Knew. Sophie is best known for starring in the BAFTA-winning, Golden Globe and Emmy nominated Outlander in 2014. She was also named as one of the Top Ten Brits to Watch in 2018 by the Variety Magazine.
