Romanian professional tennis player, Sorana Cirstea was born on 7th April 1990 in Bucharest, Romania. She started playing tennis at four and had a successful career as a junior. She was ranked in the top 10 ITF Junior Circuit list. In 2006, she reached career-high rankings of World No.6. Following this, she turned professional with the Budapest Grand Prix being one of the most significant matches. She reached the WTA tour final, becoming the first Romanian to achieve this feat since Ruxandra Dragomir in 2000. She won her first WTA title in Tashkent and also won two doubles WTA titles that year. In 2009, she had a breakthrough in the FrenchOpen where she reached the quarterfinal of a Grand Slam for the first time. She also had a good run at the LA Championship. In 2013, she reached the finals of the Rogers Cup which helped her climb up the WTA rankings, reaching a career-high ranking of World No.21.
