Spandau Ballet is a British band formed in 1976. The band is part of the New Romantic movement, inspired by the post-punk scene. The band was formed by singer and songwriter Gary Kemp and Steve Norman, a multi instrumentalist, drummer John Keeble, bassist Richard Miller and Tony Hadley. In 1979, they became very well known in the London scene and they signed with Chrysalis record label. In 1981, they released their debut album “Journeys to Glory” which was a huge success, reaching number five on the UK Albums Charts. A year later, they released the album “Diamond” and in 1983, they released their breakthrough album “True” which was an international success, reaching number 3 on the US Album Charts. The band have collaborated with the likes of U2, George Michael and Duran Duran among many others. In the early 1990s, the band split up and around 2009, they went back although with differences in the line up.
