Spiritualized Bio
Spiritualized is a psychedelic rock band formed after the breakup of the band Spacemen 3, which existed years 1982-1990. Jason Pierce has been the continuing lead vocalist and lead guitarist, and as co-frontman of Spaceman 3 with Peter Kember had a creative split from the group. Mark Refoy (guitar), Will Carruthers (bass), and Jonny Mattock (drums), all from Spaceman 3, joined with Pierce in creating Spiritualized. Their debut album “Lazer Guided Melodies” (1992) on the Dedicated label charted #27 on the UK Albums chart.
Spiritualized has since six more studio albums, most recently “Sweet Heart Sweet Light” (2012), all of them making a showing on UK album charts and some sales in the US as well. They have toured with artists including The Jesus and Mary Chain and Curve. They have also collaborated with the likes of the Balanescu Quartet, the London Community Gospel Choir, and Spring Heel Jack.
