Spoon is a five-piece American rock band from Austin, TX. The band consists of Britt Daniel, Jim Eno, Rob Pope, Eric Harvey, and Alex Fischel. They have released eight studio albums since 1996. 2005’s Gimme Fiction and 2007’s Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga both reached number 1 on the US Independent Albums charts; Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga also marked the band’s first album to break the top 20 on the Billboard 200 chart. Their two latest albums, 2010’s Transference and 2014’s They Want My Soul both peaked at number 4 on the Billboard 200 charts. Spoon has drawn comparisons to Tom Petty, The Pixies, and Sonic Youth, among others and is considered a major player in American indie and alternative rock. They have headlined major festival like Lollapalooza and SXSW, and hosted their own mini-festival called SPOONX3 in Austin.
