Stana Katic is a Canadian-American actress born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada on April 28, 1978. She is best known for her role as Kate Beckett in the television show Castle and Agent Emily Byrne in the show Absentia. Katic studied acting at The Theatre School at DePaul University and the Beverly Hills Playhouse. In 2003 she made her debut in film in the movie Shut-Eye and continued landing roles in the films Feast of Love, Quantum of Solace, The Spirit, Truth About Kerry, For Lovers Only, The Double, Big Sur, CBGB, The Rendezvous, Lost in Florence, The Possession of Hannah Grace, Pit Fighter and others. She made her debut on television in the show The Handler and has since had roles in the shows Alias, The Shield, L.A. Dragnet, The Closer, ER, 24, Heroes, CSI: Miami, The Unit, Castle, Fletcher Drive, and more. She has also voiced a character in the video game Batman: Arkham City. Throughout her career she has been nominated for several awards and has won three People’s Choice Awards, three TV Guide Magazine’s Fan Favorites Awards, and a PRISM Award.
