Status Quo is a very popular British rock band spanning a career of over 50 years since its inception in London in 1967. It originally consisted of Francis Rossi (vocals, guitar), Alan Lancaster (bass) Roy Lynes (organ), and Rick Parfitt (guitar, vocals). Their debut single “Pictures of Matchstick Men” (1968) peaked at the top 15 on the U.K. and U.S. charts. In the early 70s, the band changed their sound from psychedelic to hard rock and regularly toured the U.K. Their LP “Piledriver”, spawned the hit single “Paper Plane” in 1973. The late 70s saw the band issuing a string of top 5 single successes, including “Down Down” (1974) and “Roll Over Lay Down” (1975). By the early 80s, and after some lineup changes, only Rossi and Parfitt remained as original and core members. In 1994, after some mild hits, the band rose to fame again with 1994’s “Come on You Reds”. The band’s success followed them well into the 21st century with the albums “Heavy Traffic” (2002), “Bula Quo” (2013). Parfitt passed away in 2016, and Rossi continued with the legacy, releasing “Backbone” in 2019 and touring with Lynyrd Skynyrd later that same year.
