Stephen Thompson was born Stephen Randall Thompson in Simpsonville, South Carolina, United States on February 2, 1983. He was ranked as the No. 9 MMA Fighter of the Year for 2016. As of February 11, 2019, he is the No. 4 Current Best MMA Welterweight Fighter, and he is the No. 25 Current Best Pound For Pound MMA Fighter. He is known by the nickname Wonderboy. His head coach is Ray Thompson and he is affiliated with Upstate Karate. His last fight was on May 2018 where he lost by unanimous decision to Darren Till during the UFC Fight Night 130. He made his UFC debut on February 2012 where he won by head kick against Dan Stittgen at UFC 143. He topped the rankings in the Chuck Norris‘ World Combat League in 2006.
