Stephen John Coogan was born on October 14, 1965 in Middleton, Lancashire, England. He attended the Manchester Polytechnic School of Drama. He is an English actor, stand-up comedian, impressionist, screenwriter and producer. In the 1980s, Coogan started out as a voice artist on the puppet show Spitting Image, and went on to do voiceover work on television commercials in the 1990s. His most well-known character, Alan Partridge, was created in the 1990s while working on On the Hour and The Day Today, and has been featured in several television series. Coogan worked on multiple major motion pictures in the early 2000s, and most recently has done voice work in the Despicable Me movies. He has won several awards for his screenplays as well as awards for being a great comedian. This includes nominations at the Golden Globes and the Oscars.
