Steve Gleason Bio
Stephen Michael Gleason is an American professional football player who played as a safety in the National Football League. He was born in Spokane, Washington, United States, on March 19, 1977. He spent his developmental years playing for Gonzaga Preparatory School and the Cougars of Washington State University. In 2001, he declared for the XFL Draft, and he was selected by the Birmingham Thunderbolts who traded him to the New Orleans Saints. Throughout his career in New Orleans, Steve played alongside Aaron Brooks, Mike Karney, Darren Howard, and Brian Young. After he retired from professional football, Steve was diagnosed with ALS, and he has been engaging in philanthropic work to raise awareness and funds towards researching ALS.
