Steven Levitan was born on April 6, 1962 in Chicago, Illinois. Steven went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Journalism in 1984. His career began with his role as a news anchor on WKOW TV and as a copywriter at Leo Burnett Advertising in Chicago. His career as a director began after moving to Hollywood in 1989. He took directing roles on shows such as Just Shoot Me (1997), Stark Raving Mad (1999), The Larry Sanders Show (1996), and Modern Family (2009). His work on Frasier earned him an Emmy Award in 1996. His work on Modern Family has also gotten him some director award nominations.
