Steven Wilson is an English singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer born in Kingston upon Thames, London, England on November 3, 1967. He was the founder, lead guitarist, lead vocalist, and songwriter of the rock band Porcupine Tree. Porcupine Tree was started in 1987 and released 10 studio albums, 10 live albums, 6 compilation albums, 6 EPs, and 2 video albums before disbanding in 2010. Wilson also played in the bands Altamont, Karma, No-Man, I.E.M., Bass Communion, Blackfield, and Storm Corrosion. In 2008 he released his debut solo album titled Insurgentes and has since released the solo albums Grace for Drowning, The Raven That Refused to Sing (And Other Stories), Hand. Cannot. Erase., and To the Bone. He has also released three EPs, four compilation albums, and three live albums. In 2015 he was awarded three Progressive Music Awards. In 2016 he was named one of the 15 best progressive rock guitarists through the years by Guitar World Magazine and in 2018 he was awarded the UK band/artist of the Year by Prog.
