Lee Sun-mi, popularly known by her stage nickname Sunmi, is a South Korean singer, songwriter, and writer, who was born on May 2, 1992, in Iksan, North Jeolla. She began her artistic career in 2007 when she was elected as a member of the K-Pop girl band called Wonder Girls, managed by JYP Entertainment. With the band, she released 6 albums before she decided to leave to pursue an academic career. She returned to the music industry as a solo artist in 2013 when she released the single “24 Hours”. The following year she released her first EP called Fool Moon, which achieved No.12 in Korean Charts and No.12 at Billboard World Charts. Other EPs she released are Warning in 2018, which ranked 9 on Korean Charts, and 1/6, which ranked number 5. She also released two full-length albums titled Gashina in 2017 and Tail in 2021.
