Swizz Beatz, born Kasseem Dean, is a legendary hip hop producer from The Bronx. He sold his first beat at age seventeen to DMX: a beat which would become “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem,” one of DMX’s best-known singles to date. The song would make him an immediate success, and in the following years he found himself producing singles for artists such as Eve, and Jay-Z at his peak. By this point a successful and sought-after producer, he signed hip hop group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, and executive produced their comeback album, Strength & Loyalty. His recent production credits include Nicki Minaj’s “Roman’s Revenge,” Kanye West’s “Ultralight Beam,” and Kendrick Lamar’s “untitled 07 / levitate.”
