Taha Akgül Bio
Taha Akgül is a wrestler born on 22nd November 1990 in Sivas, Turkiye. He is a freestyle wrestler currently competing in the 125 kilograms division. He started his wrestling career in 2003. In 2012, he participated in the 40th Yasar Dogu International Wrestling Tournament and won a gold medal. He also took part in the 2012 European Wrestling Championships and emerged the winner in his weight category.
He also competed in the 2012 Olympics but failed to qualify for the quarterfinals after losing to Russian wrestler Bilyal Makhov. The following year, he won bronze at the World Wrestling Championships held in Budapest, Hungary. In 2022, he took part in the Yasar Dogu Tournament in Istanbul, Turkey and won a gold medal. He also competed at the 2022 European Wrestling Championships in the men’s 125kg event. That same year, he won gold at the 2022 World Wrestling Championships in the men’s 125 kg event.
