Take 6 is an American music band which experiments with gospel, urban gospel, jazz, smooth jazz, R&B and pop. The band was founded in 1985 in Huntsville, Alabama, U.S. The members of the band are Alvin Chea, Khristian Dentley, Joey Kibble, Mark Kibble, Claude V. McKnight III, and David Thomas. The group sings a contemporary style, based on the southern gospel, uniting R&B and jazz influences in their religious songs. Their first single was the most added song on Smooth Jazz after its release. In 2016 they landed on six Billboard charts. In April 2018, the release of their sixteenth album, entitled “ICONIC” and the debut of a PBS special, “The Summit”, were released. They have won 10 Grammy Awards, 10 Dove Awards, a Soul Train Award and have had two nominations for the NAACP Image Awards. They won the Grammy in the years 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1995, 1998 and 2003. The group has had important appearances with great artists such as Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Queen Latifah, Gordon Goodwin, Luis Miguel, Brian McKnight and many others.
