Takuya Kimura (born November 13, 1972, in Tokyo, Japan) is a Japanese actor and singer most renowned as a member of the Japanese boy band SMAP. He is popularly called Kimutaku, Captain Takuya, and Takkun. He made his acting debut in 1993 and has since appeared in numerous films and TV dramas including 2046 (2004), Love and Honour (2006), Blade of the Immortal (2017), and The Legend & Butterfly (2023).
Kimura began singing from a very young age. He grew up in a family of musicians and was encouraged to join Johnny & Associates, a talent agency for young boys, at the age of 11. In 1988, he became a member of SMAP. SMAP became one of the most popular boy bands in Japan and released numerous hit songs and albums.
Takuya has won numerous awards for his acting performances, including the Japan Academy Prize for Best Actor and the Television Drama Academy Award for Outstanding Actor. He also won the 20th Nikkan Sports Film Awards for his role in Love and Honor in 2007.
