Terrace Martin was born on December 28, 1978 in Los Angeles. Terrace studied music under Reggie Andrews, in Locke High School and became first chair of the All-State Jazz Band. With a scholarship that he received from talk show host Jay Leno, Martin studied at CalArts for a while, but decided to drop out. He toured with Puff Daddy and God’s Property gospel choir.
Martin has been famous since 2004, as a record producer, musician, songwriter, singer and rapper. He practices an array of genres including Hip-hop, R & B, jazz and jazz fusion, pop, funk, soul and classical. He is a multi-instrumentalist, playing keyboards, drums, percussion, guitar and saxophone.
Terrace Martin worked with P Diddy, Shawna, Johny Cash, Kendrick Lamar and various artists from 2004 up to 2020 producing singles every year. He has been associated with Snoop Dogg since he produced a Power 106 radio drop with the artist. This was his first big break. Martin received a Grammy nomination in the category, Best R&B album, with his album Velvet Portraits, featuring Lalah Hathaway, Glasper and Thundercat in 2016.
