The Breeders Bio

The Breeders is an alternative rock band formed in 1989 and based in Dayton, Ohio. The band is composed of Kim Deal, who plays rhythm guitar, and performs the lead vocals, her twin sister Kelley Deal, who plays the lead guitar, and provides back vocals, Josephine Wiggs, who plays the bass guitar and also provides back vocals, and Jim Macpherson at the drums. They released their debut album engineered by Steve Albini in 1990 titled “Pod”. Two years later, they released the EP “Safari”. In 1993, they released the album “Last Splash” which peaked at number 22 on the Billboard 200 album charts and got certified platinum. The most popular song on the album was “Cannonball”. They released three more albums, “Title TK” in 2002, “Mountain Battles” in 2008, and “All Nerve” in 2018. The Breeders have been praised by many other artists, including Kurt Cobain, who has cited “Pod” as one of his all-time favorite albums.
