The Get Up Kids Bio

The Get Up Kids are a rock band hailing from Kansas City, Missouri, United States. The band first got together in 1995. They quickly established themselves as major players in the Midwest emo scene, also known as the "second wave" of emo music. Something to Write Home About, the band's second studio album, is still considered to be their most critically acclaimed work to this day. It is also regarded as one of the most essential albums of the second-wave emo movement. They are widely regarded as the forefathers of the emo genre, and they have been widely credited as being an influence, both on contemporary bands such as Saves the Day and on later bands such as Fall Out Boy, Taking Back Sunday, and The Wonder Years.
