The Isley Brothers are an American soul and R&B group originally from Cincinnati, Ohio that was formed in the early 1950’s. The group members consisted of Ronald Isley, Rudolph Isley, O’Kelly Isley and Vernon Isley. A tragic accident occured in 1956 where Vernon Isley was involved in a bicycling accident and passed on. The Isley Brothers continued without him, releasing their hit single in 1959, ‘Shout!’ which eventually went on to sell 7 million copies. The gospel inspired doo wop band are widely recognized for their singles, ‘Twist & Shout’, ‘This Old Heart Of Mine (Is Weak For You)’ and Grammy nominated hit ‘It’s Your Thing’ peaking at number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100. They have an extremely huge discography and are said to have the “longest, most influential, and most diverse careers in the pantheon of popular music” according to their Spotify biography. The Isley brothers performed into the 21st century, also collaborating with famous guitarist, Santana. In 1992, the group was given a place in the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame, solidifying their impact on music through many generations.
