The Libertines is a rock band from England. The band was formed in 1997 and its current lineup consists of vocalist/guitarist Carl Barat, vocalist/guitarist Pete Doherty, bassist John Hassall, and drummer Gary Powell. Although they were not initially successful, they started gaining popularity after their songs started charting in UK charts. In 2004, their second album, titled “The Libertines,” was voted the second-best album by the New Musical Express magazine.
The band had internal conflicts but was still commercially successful. They eventually dissolved the band, owing to relationship difficulties. The members formed another band. In August 2010, four former members of The Libertines came together to play a number of shows, including the Reading and Leeds Festivals. They reunited in 2014 and released a new album. Albums released by the band include: “Up the Bracket” in 2002, “The Libertine” in 2004, and “Anthems for Doomed Youth” in 2015.
