Melvins, also known as The Melvins, is a prolific metal and alternative rock band formed in Montesano, Washington State, in 1983. In 2019, the band consisted of founding member and vocalist Buzz Osborne, drummer Dale Crover, and bassist Steven Shane McDonald. They are considered precursors of the grunge genre, with Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain interceding for them to get a record deal with Atlantic in 1993. They have experimented with various instrumental lineups, such as two drums and two basses, like in 2016’s “Basses Loaded”. Though they released more than ten albums before 2000, they all remained cult-status, failing to reach mainstream fame. The band has released more than 20 full-length albums, including three live ones, and a film score for Jesse Nieminen.
