Hailing from New York City is the band The Pretty Reckless, which was formed in 2009 by starlet Taylor Momsen, who rose to fame for her role in the TV show Gossip Girl. She is the lead singer of the band, accompanied by John Secolo as guitarist, Matt Chiarelli as bassist, and Nick Carbone as drummer. They have gained an impressive fan base with their combination of a rock and pop sound, and gained the opportunity to join the girl group The Veronicas on their tour, which granted them the promotion that they needed. However, shortly after returning, all of the band mates left, and Momsen was later joined by Ben Phillips on guitar, Mark Damon on bass, and Jamie Perkins on drums. Together, they were able to release their first single “Make Me Wanna Die”, one of their most successful singles.

Their debut album Light Me Up, was released in 2010 in Europe and Australia, and was later released in North America in 2011. This album was the catalyst for a very successful tour, and was followed in March of 2012 by their second album, Going to Hell. With just their two albums, they have sold more than 250,000 combined albums worldwide, and over 1 million digital tracks.
