At the forefront of the “jerkin’ ” explosion that hit the scene in 2009, the hip-hop and dance group The Rangers hailed from California and gained a huge Internet following with their numerous uplaods of their dance moves. The group, who frequently spell their name Ranger$, is comprised of Julian Goins, David White, Langston Higgins, DaShawn Blanks, and Jacorey Williams. The group released their album Jerkin’ is a Habit, Vol. 1 in November 2009 under the label of RBC Records.

The type of dance that the boys promote, known as “jerkin’” is a style that originated from the streets of Los Angeles, and has been gaining steady recognition and attention since 2009. The Rangers have worked very closely with one of the rap groups who is credited with bringing the dance to national spotlight: the New Boyz. This group also makes an appearance on Jerkin’ is a Habit, Vol. 1.
