The White Buffalo Bio

The White Buffalo is a country-rock project led by singer and songwriter Jake Smith. Smith was born in Oregon in 1974 and came up with the White Buffalo moniker at age 19. He made two self-recorded albums called “Hogtied Like a Rodeo” and “Hogtied Revisited” in 2002 and 2008 respectively. His song “Wrong” appeared in the movie Shelter by surfer Chris Malloy a few years later, while Smith shared the stage with artists like Ziggy Marley. His full-length proper label debut Once Upon a Time in the West went out in 2012, making it into Americana genre charts. The production featured drummer Matt Lynott and bassist Tommy Andrews on drums. In 2013 2013 another LP followed, called Shadows, Greys & Evil Ways. After crafting 2018’s “Darkest Darks, Lightest Lights”, Smith toured with Counting Crows.
