Thon Maker was born as Thon Marial Maker in Wau, South Sudan on February 25, 1997. He was the first round, 10th pick, the 10th overall pick of the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2016 NBA Draft. He serves as the power forward and center. He made his NBA debut on October 20, 2016. He went to Carlisle School in Virginia and joined the varsity team. His school became the state champion during the 2013-14 season, and he was named the Gatorade Virginia Boys Basketball Player of the Year. During his last year in high school, he decided to join the 2015 Nike Hoop Summit which was held in Oregon. Maker jumped straight from high school to being part of the NBA by joining the 2016 Draft, and he signed a multi-year contract with the Bucks.
