Threshold is a progressive metal band with an uncharacteristic measure of patience. Their debut album was in 1993; yet they never dented a chart anywhere until 2002, from whence time their patience has paid off. Maybe the world needed to catch up with them. Their current line-up includes Glynn Morgan (lead vocals, guitar), Karl Groom (guitar), Steve Anderson (bass), Richard West (keyboard), and Johanne James (drums). They started out as a cover band playing songs by Ratt and Testament.
Threshold is a word which means “door” and it might as well be a revolving one for the personnel changes they’ve had, with Carl Groom being the only constant member. In spite of this, they’ve managed to crank out eleven albums, the latest, “Legends of the Shires,” charting #5 on the UK Rock Singles’ chart and top-40 in a few other places. One video from that album, “Small Dark Lines,” sounds very energetic and positive, so there might be light beyond the Threshold yet.
