Tirunesh Dibaba is a highly acclaimed long-distance runner and one of the most decorated athletes in the history of distance running. She was born in Bekoji, Ethiopia, on June 1, 1985.
Renowned for her exceptional speed and endurance, Dibaba has left an indelible mark on the track and field world. She made her international debut at the 2003 IAAF World Championships, winning gold in the 5,000 meters, and has since amassed a remarkable collection of Olympic and World Championship titles. Dibaba's Olympic triumphs include three gold medals in the 10,000 meters (2008, 2012, 2016) and one in the 5,000 meters (2012). Additionally, she has clinched multiple World Championship titles in both events. Known for her unparalleled finishing kick, Dibaba's records and achievements have solidified her status as one of Ethiopia's greatest athletes.
