Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra Bio

Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra (popularly called Skapara by fans) is a Japanese jazz group formed by Asa-Chang in 1985. Asa-Chang is a percussionist and he handpicked the crew when they first launched.

The band always had a high number of members, and they often perform frequent nationwide tours in Japan as well as worldwide tours. They occasionally collaborate with outside vocalists and singers to compose video game tracks and theme songs. They created the theme songs for Sly Cooper and Thievius Raccoonus, and the music for Incredible Crisis.

The band has lost a number of its members although they were easily replaced. They formed a very high reputation which got them invitations to perform at England's Glastonbury Festival and France’s Eurockeennes.

Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra has recorded with the biggest names in Japanese music featuring Shiina Ringo, Puffy AmiYumi, and Thee Michelle Gun Elephant's Yusuke Chiba. They've also played more than once with singer Neville Staple and trombonist Rico Rodriguez, both former members of The Specials.
