Tom Jones Bio

Tom Jones is a British singer born in Pontypridd, Wales in 1940 as Thomas John Woodward. During his youth he formed the band Tommy Scott and the Senators, with which he performed in different fashionable places. In one of these performances he was discovered by the famous composer Gordon Mills, member of The Viscounts, who became his manager until his death in 1986. With Mills, Tom relocated to London in 1963, and a few months later, he had his first success with the single “It's not unusual”, with which he managed to reach number one on the British charts. His single “Hit Parade” was also a success and in 1965, he was named best new artist at the Grammy Awards. In 1966 he opened for The Rolling Stones in London. He achieved world fame with the song “Delilah” in 1968 and he has since continued his musical career. Jones  has also been featured in more than 20 movies, appearing as himself in most of them.
