Thomas Joseph McCarthy, better known as Tom McCarthy, is an award-winning American film producer, director, screenwriter, actor, and comedian best known for his work in film and television. He was born in New Providence, New Jersey, United States, on June 7, 1966. Tom began his career in entertainment in the early 1990s when he acted in the films Crossing the Bridge, Rift, and Conspiracy Theory. He has since become known for his work behind the camera as a writer, producer, and director. He has worked on the films Meet the Parents, 2012, Little Fockers, Christopher Robin, Duplicity, Million Dollar Arm, and Flags of Our Fathers, but he is best known for directing, producing, and writing the drama film Stillwater which features Matt Damon, Camille Cottin, and Abigail Breslin. Tom has won multiple awards including an Oscar for Best Writing, Original Screenplay, a BAFTA for Best Writing, Original Screenplay, and a Writers Guild of America Award for Best Original Screenplay.
