Tom Sturridge (born December 21, 1985 in Lambeth, London, England, UK) is a British actor most renowned for appearing in the films ‘FairyTale: A True Story’, ‘Being Julia’, ‘Brothers of the Head’, ‘On the Road’, ‘Like Minds’, ‘Journey's End’ and ‘The Boat That Rocked’. He is the son of actress Phoebe Nicholls and sometime-actor and full-time director Charles Sturridge.
Initially, Tom was discouraged from pursuing acting. However, his acting career eventually took root at 11 years old, when Tom played a role in one of his father's directing projects, a re-telling of the Gulliver's Travels TV production. In 2004, Tom secured roles in 'Vanity Fair' and 'Being Julia'. In 2005, Tom played William Herbert 'the fair youth', the gay lover of Shakespeare in a William Shakespeare TV production. A few of his other theatrical works include plays, such as The Trial, Punk Rock, Wastwater, Orphans, American Buffalo, and 1984.
In 2006, Tom was a part of the psychological thriller called 'Like Minds'. In 2010, Tom appeared in a stage play called 'Punk Rock'. His extraordinary performance on the project earned him the 2009 Critics' Circle Theatre Award.
