Tommy Torres Bio

Tommy Torres, born Tomas Torres Carrasquillo on November 25th, 1971 in San Juan, Puerto Rico is a Puerto Rican singer, songwriter, and producer in the latin pop, and spanish rock genres. At an early age Tommy learned to play the violin and keyboards. He began to compose music in high school and graduated from Berklee College of Music.

In 1999 he released his first record composition called “No Puedo Olvidar” for the pop group MDO. The song reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart. In the same year he composed a song for Jaci Velasquez called “Llegar A Ti.” In 2002 he earned his first Latin Grammy nomination for his work on the song “Acustico” for Ednita Nazario. In 2003 he produced Ricky Martin’s album Almas del Silencio. He won a Latin Grammy for production on the track “Tal Vez” which earned Song of the Year honors. In 2004 Tommy was nominated for Producer of the Year at the Latin Grammy Awards.

In 2007 Billboard named Tommy as the number 1 Hot Latin Tracks producer. In 2012 Tommy won a Latin Grammy Award in the Song of the Year category for the single “Corre” by Jesse & Joy. Tommy also released music as a solo artist. Some of his albums include Tommy Torres, Estar de Moda No Esta de Moda, Tarde o Temprano. He received Composer of the Year honors by the ASCAP Latin Music Awards in 2010.
