Tony Orlando, born Michael Anthony Orlando Cassavitis on April the 3rd 1944 in New York City, is an American singer, songwriter, actor, music executive and producer. Beginning his career by forming the doowop group, The Five Gents at the age of fifteen, he then went on to songwriter alongside artists such as Carole King, Bobby Darin and Connie Francis, amongst others.
Finding success as a solo artist with five albums released thus far, and hit songs such as Halfway to Paradise and Bless You, he is best known for being a part of the band Tony Orlando and Dawn, a group most famous in the 1970’s with hits such as Knock Three Times and Candida, releasing sixteen albums so far and still active to this day.
