Myra Ellen Amos is an American singer-songwriter, pianist and composer who built a musical legacy with her unique approach to weave 70s classical style into 90s alternative rock music. Born on August 22, 1963, in Newton, North Carolina, United States, Amos became the youngest student at Johns Hopkins University at the tender age of 5. In 1986, she started her career as the lead singer of the pop band Y Kant Tori Read but her biggest artistic breakthrough came with the release of her debut solo album Little Earthquakes in 1992. She went on to release groundbreaking albums including Under the Pink (1993), Boys for Pele (1996), From the Choirgirl Hotel (1998), To Venus and Back (1999), American Doll Posse (2007), Night of Hunters (2011) and others. Her musical success saw her receive five MTV VMA nominations and eight Grammy Award nominations. She also won the prestigious Echo Klassik Award for her album Night of Hunters.
