Mackenzie Scott (popularly known as Torres) is an American singer and songwriter who was born on January 23rd 1991 in Georgia, United States. She was born and raised in Maco, Georgia. Torres began singing in high school, performing in church and in school musicals. She attended college at Belmont University.
Finishing her degree, she recorded her first album Torres as a tribute to her grandfather’s surname. The record was co-produced by Scott and Belmont alum Ryan McFadden and released in 2013. Torres appeared on Van Etten’s 2014 LP Are We There as part of her effort to promote her album. She moved to England to work with Rob Ellis (producer) for her sophomore album Sprinter which was released in May 2015 on Partisan Records. Her third album Three Futures appeared in September 2017 and was inspired by the writings of Lorrie Moore and Ta-Nehisi Coates.
