Ernest Joseph Anastasio III, also known as Trey Anastasio is an American multifaceted songwriter, composer, and guitarist born in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1964. In the ‘80s he founded the blues band Phish along with bassist Mike Gordon, drummer Jon Fishman, and guitarist Jeff Holdsworth, an outlet he procured also throughout the ‘90s. In 1996 he also led a big band free jazz supergroup production called Surrender to the Air with saxophonist Marshall Allen from Sun Ra, jazz organist John Medeski, guitarist Marc Ribot, drummer Bob Gullotti, and others. Following the year 2000 and a break from already successful Phish, Anastasio took part in Oysterhead with Les Claypool from the band Primus and Stewart Copeland from the band The Police. In 2002 he released his self-titled full-length debut with record label Elektra. From then on he released a string of 11 albums between 2003 and 2020.
