Katrina Laverne Taylor, known by her stage name Trina, was born on December 3rd, 1978 in Miami, Florida. She made her debut on the rap scene as a featured artist on Trick Daddy’s song “Nann.” The single reached number 62 on the Billboard Hot 100. From this success Trina was offered a record deal with Slip-n-Slide Records.
In 2000 Trina released her first solo album called Da Baddest Bitch. The album debuted at number 33 on Billboard 200 and was certified gold in the same year. For her second album, Diamond Princess, Trina enlisted the help of high profile artists Missy Elliot, Eve, Just Blaze, and Kanye West. The album debuted at number 14 on the Billboard 200. She also started her own record label in 2002 called Diva Enterprises (now DP Entertainment).
Trina released another full studio album in 2005 called Glamorest Life which debuted at number 11 on Billboard 200. She went on to release a series of mixtapes and then her fourth and fifth studio albums, Still da Baddest in 2008, and Amazin’ in 2010. Trina has also won numerous awards including a Soul Train Music award, a Source award, ACE award, BMI London and BMI Urban awards, and a Billboard Music award.
