Troy Andrews, better known as Trombone Shorty, is an American musician, trombone player, producer, and actor who performs jazz music. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States, on January 2, 1986. Growing up in Louisiana’s culturally vibrant neighborhood, Tremé, Trombone Shorty began playing trombone at the age of four. He went on to play in various music events before he released his debut studio project in 2002, Trombone Shorty's Swingin' Gate. His discography now includes the hit singles Tripped Out Slim, Hurricane Season, Here Come The Girls, Hold Up, Wait a Minute, and the albums Backatown, For True, and Lifted which featured fellow musical artists Gary Clark Jr., Lauren Daigle, and New Breed Brass Brand. Troy has acted in the TV series NCIS: New Orleans, The Simpsons, Treme, and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.
