Tunng is a musical band that was founded in 2003. Often pegged by critics who can’t categorize that band’s sound as folktronica or ‘Future folk’. Its members are Ashley Bates, Becky Jacobs, Martin Smith, Mike Lindsay, and Phil Winter. Sam Genders was previously on the band but opted rather for a solo career. The band is based in London, England. The band was founded in Mike Lindsay’s basement where they developed their signature sound. The first album of Tunng was released in 2005 and titled Mother’s Daughter And Other Songs. To date, their most successful album is And Then We Saw Land which was released in 2010. During the pandemic of COVID-19, the band opted to talk about the taboo subject: death through an 8-part podcast series, with a sinister name: The Death Club. The podcasts have seen the participation of many creative figures like philosophers and writers. The musical accompaniment of the Podcast was pure Tunng material. Their 7th studio album was released in November 2020, titled Tunng presents...DEAD CLUB.
