Tweet (Charlene L. Keys), a soulful vocalist and composer, was born in Rochester, New York, on 4th March 1971. Tweet was influenced by Janet Jackson, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, and Whitney Houston.
She spent her childhood singing in church with her parents and four elder siblings (three brothers, Tom, Cedric, Lonnie, and one sister, Sundra).
She had appeared alongside Elliott on "Take Away" (a single also featuring Ginuwine from Miss E...So Addictive) and "X" (an album cut from Ja Rule's Pain Is Love) in 2002, was introduced by Missy Elliott and Timbaland.
Timbaland's production and Elliott's vocals were included on Tweet's debut album, Southern Hummingbird, most notably on the lead single "Oops (Oh My) and the single became an instant hit.
A remix featuring Fabolous received even more airplay on urban radio, assisting her in breaking through to the rap audience and preparing her long-awaited album's release.
In 2005 it's me again was released and, like the debut, hit number two on the R&B chart, but it didn't have the same staying power; its biggest single, "Turn da Lights Off," barely made the R&B Top 40.
Tweet returned in 2013 with a low-key EP, Simply Tweet, after an unproductive time with Umbrella Recordings and released her third album, Charlene, on the eOne label in 2016.
